Kate Middleton delighted fans (read: us) as she made a surprise appearance today with Prince William. It’s the first time the pair have been spotted together in public since last year. They were last photographed on Christmas Day, with the rest of the royals, for the traditional church walk in Sandringham.
The Prince and Princess of Wales are starting out the New Year strong
On January 8th, the Prince and Princess of Wales made an appearance together at Charing Cross Hospital in London. At the hospital, they met with healthcare workers and patients. And, they also learned about NHS Charities Together, which included meeting trustees and volunteers.
During the royal visit, the couple spoke candidly of Kate’s recent health journey and cancer battle. “Both of us had different experiences with hospitals, me working with the air ambulance and Catherine with her recent health journey,” William said, per HELLO! magazine. “Coming here today reminds us just how important all the teams are, all the staff, the patient sort of interactions.”
The Prince continued: “It’s so heartwarming, and it’s so important that we acknowledge and appreciate all that goes on in the NHS, and that very strong bond between patient and carer.”
In an Instagram post shared after their visit, William and Kate thanked NHS staff and volunteers for their “tireless efforts,” which “change lives, every single day.” The pair also said they are “proud” to be joint patrons of NHS Charities Together and enjoyed witnessing how it makes a “difference to the workforce and patients.”
As usual, fans had lots of lovely things to say about William and Kate in response to their outing. “I want to be Catherine when I grow up!” someone commented on Instagram. “Bless the Wales family,” added another.
