Nicole Kidman Had to Fight Hard for Custody — Source

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s divorce has been making the headlines, and now sources close to the former couple claim that the custody negotiations were anything but simple. The two avoided a public fight and kept the legal process mostly private. Still, insiders claim the biggest hurdle — and the most emotional one — came down to custody of their teenage daughters, Sunday and Faith.

The daughters need Nicole Kidman more, claims source

The Daily Mail exclusively reported that the custody settlement of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s daughters reached on January 6 followed a tense back‑and‑forth.

One insider claimed, “The one thing that became a sticking point was custody of Sunday and Faith. Keith was initially asking for equal time with their daughters.” Moreover, a second insider added, “Nicole also wanted the kids more because she wasn’t given that benefit when she divorced Tom Cruise.”

Kidman’s older children, Isabella and Connor, eventually lived primarily with Cruise after her divorce in 2001. That choice reportedly strained her relationship with them, something that she has never hidden.

However, with Sunday and Faith, sources claimed that Kidman wanted to avoid any repeat of that dynamic. One insider explained that the teens “need their mother more than their father at these ages.”

Besides, a source told the outlet that Urban’s touring schedule made things difficult. Kidman, by contrast, often brings her daughters to the set and maintains a steadier home routine when she’s not filming.

In the end, sources claimed that Kidman “won out.” According to court filings, she will have the girls for 306 days a year, while Urban will have them 59 days, typically every other weekend.

The actor remains in the family’s Nashville home, while the singer reportedly moved out last summer. Meanwhile, Nicole Kidman is staying close to her daughters and looking ahead, especially with the custody agreement and the dust beginning to settle.
