Internet reacts to J.D. Vance’s comment on Gavin Newsom’s legs
J.D. Vance is facing online backlash after mocking California Governor Gavin Newsom’s manner of sitting. The comment made on a recent interview with Fox News’ Jesse Watters on Wednesday, January 7, Vance quickly sparked widespread criticism across social media.
At one point during the interview, Watters brought up Newsom, who is “obviously running for president,” before asking Vance, “Have you seen this guy cross his legs?” The Vice President responded with a laugh, declaring, “My legs don’t cross like that, Jesse!” Still chuckling, Vance added, “You can interpret that however you want to,” a remark widely seen as a pointed dig at Newsom’s manner of sitting.
Soon after the video went live, netizens slammed Vance for his comments, with many trolling him in return. One user on X (formerly Twitter) joked that his legs don’t cross like that “because Vance’s are wide open.” A second fan added, “Dudes got them thiccc legs,” while another penned, “Does he think he seems more masculine for not being flexible enough to cross his legs?”
Other fans have fished out old photos of Vance wearing a blonde wig, posting it with the caption, “The only thing of J.D. Vance that crosses is his dressing.” Many have also posted pictures of Vance crossing his legs in the same way in the past, calling him out for his hypocrisy.
Later during his conversation with Watters, Vance launched more attacks on Newsom. “I think you have an unbelievably corrupt and incompetent governor in Gavin Newsom,” the VP stated. Then, alluding to Kamala Harris, he added, “The fact that those are the two front-runners just suggests how deeply deranged the Democrat Party is. Let them fight it out, we’ll figure it out.”
