Why Mickey Rourke Is Rejecting New Roles Despite Money Woes — Source

Mickey Rourke apparently still sees himself as an A-list actor. As such, he’s not looking for anything but big Hollywood paydays reserved for those in leading roles. He’s reportedly been turning down his share of acting roles for this very reason.

The Academy Award nominee was last featured on screen in the sports romantic comedy film The Roaring Game, alongside former NFL superstar Rob Gronkowski. Mickey has several upcoming movies and seems to be picking and choosing his gigs carefully.

Turning down Hollywood money of any kind would seem crazy to most average Joes out there. Given Mickey’s alleged financial situation right now, it’s even more head-scratching to learn he’s declining so many offers. That’s because a GoFundMe page to raise money for his unpaid rent bills went up a while back. He’s currently staying at a West Hollywood hotel with his three dogs. He’s said to be unrecognizable these days while facing eviction.

Mickey’s manager, Kimberly Hines, tells TMZ that he’s turned down countless roles that he believes are not right for him and do not equate to what he believes he’s worth. She says he’d gotten six job offers this week, all of which he’d turned down. They include photo shoots, indie films, live appearances, and autograph signings. According to her, he wants to be paid around $200,000 per day for his time.

The former boxer has spoken out against the GoFundMe page, claiming it isn’t him. He says that if he needed money, he wouldn’t go through this charitable fund. The donations on that page have reached $100,000. Liya-Joelle Jones, the assistant to Kimberly, says the page was set up with Mickey’s full permission. Kimberly has confirmed this, saying that if Mickey doesn’t want the money, it will be returned to his fans.

There are five movies involving Mickey that are supposedly coming out in the near future, all of which are said to be in post-production.
