A settlement has reportedly been reached between L.A. Reid and Drew Dixon. Former record executive Drew accused L.A. of sexual assault, dating back to when the pair worked together in 2001. The music producer denies any wrongdoing. The trial was scheduled to commence on Monday.
Details of the settlement between L.A. Reid and accuser Drew Dixon have not been released
L.A. Reid has reached a settlement agreement with Drew Dixon, reports Variety. Former Arista executive Drew filed a suit against L.A. in New York in 2023. She claimed the music producer had sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions in 2001, when he was head of the record label.
The trial was due to commence on Monday, with John Legend reportedly serving as a witness. Details of the settlement between the pair have not been made public.
Drew’s attorney, Kenya Davis, said in a statement: “Drew has been one of the most courageous and outspoken supporters of survivors of sexual abuse. Her advocacy, including her instrumental role in advancing the Adult Survivors Act, has helped shift the balance of power in the music industry, creating a path to justice for survivors.”
Meanwhile, the music producer’s attorney, Imran Ansari, said the agreement wasn’t an admission of guilt. The lawyer said: “Mr. Reid has amicably resolved this matter with Ms. Dixon without any admission of liability.”
Drew has also claimed that she was sexually assaulted by Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons in 1995. She’s one of 20 women who have come forward with similar allegations. In 2024, she sued him for defamation after he denied her claims and suggested she might be fame thirsty. That lawsuit is still ongoing.
