An iconic voice actress has been recognized for her life within Scientology. Nancy Cartwright received the Freedom Medal at this year’s International Association of Scientologists (IAS) gala. The woman famous for voicing Bart on The Simpsons, among her many roles, is evidently a big advocate of Scientology.
The three-day gala takes place at Saint Hill Manor in the UK, formerly the home of L. Ron Hubbard, a late American author who founded Scientology. Nancy’s Freedom Medal is said to be among the highest honors for someone within the religion.
The voice of Bart Simpson, Nancy Cartwright, has reportedly donated over $21 million to scientology
Many outside the Scientology religion may now recognize Nancy’s face. Nancy often speaks highly of Scientology. The modern religion has the belief that immortal spiritual beings who have forgotten their true nature can achieve spiritual enlightenment. This comes through auditing, training and practices derived from Ron’s work, but it’s not without controversy.
Nancy has reportedly devoted much of her time to Scientology over the years. Some call Nancy among the hardest-working celebrities in Scientology, according to insider Tony Ortega from the Substack The Underground Bunker.
This award follows a high recognition she received in 2023. That year, she got the Patron Excalibur With Honors distinction for her $21 million donations to Scientology. As of 2025, Nancy has a reported net worth of $55 million. When she’s not behind a microphone working on The Simpsons, Nancy is championing this religion while helping people learn more about it.
In 1992, she won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance on The Simpsons. Many have said her Scientology honor is long overdue.
Last year, Nancy started her own podcast entitled Simpsons Declassified. The Simpsons began in 1989 and is still going strong today. Nancy also voices Nelson Muntz, Todd Flanders, and Ralph Wiggum, among others, on The Simpsons.
