Keeping a romance on the down low did a number on Brian Austin Green. The Beverly Hills 90210 actor is dishing about a secret romance he had in the 90s while he was a household name on the hit soap drama.
Behind closed doors, Brian dated Tichina Arnold, something the Martin actress, he claims, insisted be kept between them. Brian says her insistence that no one could know they were fooling around hurt his self-esteem. “It really triggered something,” said Brian. He says being told to remain silent about their romance made him feel as though he wasn’t good enough.

The hip-hop world is one Brian knows well. He says he frequented hip hop clubs and primarily dated black women. Brian shared how he and Tichina hit it off early on. Looking back, he says he lived in a culture that wasn’t accepting of him then. On the Funny Knowing You podcast, Brian shared how he felt when Tichina urged him to keep their relationship secret. “I’m not good enough for any of this,” said Brian about his feelings at that time.
While Tichina eventually had a change of heart on the matter, Brian said he’d already made a subconscious switch at that point that they weren’t in a real relationship. While things were at times privately tense between them in the 90s, Brian says the pair are on great terms today. He says he will always have her back, as she’s always had his.
For her part, the Everybody Hates Chris actress called Brian really nice, while admitting she was the one who ended their relationship. She added that she knew the relationship wasn’t going anywhere from the beginning. Tichina said she’s attracted to black men.
She’s been married twice before, divorcing NBA assistant coach DaRico Hines in 2022. Brian is engaged to Sharna Burgess after being married to Megan Fox for over a decade. Brian says he and Megan have been great at co-parenting. They have three sons together.
