Travis Kelce Asked to Retire by Chiefs Legend

Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles has given his thoughts on the ongoing retirement rumors surrounding Travis Kelce. In a recent interview with Chiefs Wire, the NFL legend shared some candid advice for the star to retire.

Jamaal Charles recently spoke with Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr., where he weighed in on Travis Kelce‘s retirement rumors. “I say you need to retire. Yeah, nothing to prove, no more,” he said, addressing Kelce directly. “Man, (You’re) number one tight end, sell his broadcast for a billion dollars. “Man, go enjoy your life —you won a couple of Super Bowls,” Charles added.

Charles continued his praise for Kelce, saying, “I mean, that’s more than anybody wishes can win—Pro Bowls, All-Pro tight end. You’re a Hall of Fame tight end.” He further added, “If your body doesn’t feel it… I didn’t feel like Travis (Kelce) was playing at a high level like he used to, just by knowing Travis and seeing the way he moved, but he still has it. There are a lot of ‘Tony Gonzalezes’ out there, almost the same age, and trying to get a Super Bowl ring, you already got it.”

Charles went on to express confidence in Kelce’s post-NFL endeavors, suggesting that he could be great in broadcasting. “Ain’t nothing to prove to me. I already know you good. We already know you good,” Charles said. “You’re set for life. I mean, go, kick up your feet and be on somebody broadcast or ESPN, and we’ll definitely tune in to you,” the Chiefs icon added.

Meanwhile, Kelce has yet to announce whether he will hang up his cleats soon. He recently gave an update on the January 7 episode of the New Heights podcast. The Chiefs star said that he plans on “just being a regular human for a couple weeks. maybe a month or so, trying to figure out what I’m gonna do next in terms of my future in football.”
