2026 marks 15 years since Emilia Clarke debuted in her iconic role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones. Originally premiering in April 2011, Emilia portrayed the Mother of Dragons throughout the show’s eight-season run, right until its controversial finale in May 2019.
To commemorate the anniversary, the actress spoke with Access Hollywood about her time on the show at the premiere of her new series, Ponies. Emilia opened up about her reunions with Game of Thrones’ enormous ensemble cast, and who she is closest with.

“You just had a very sweet reunion with Iain Glen,” Access Hollywood said, referring to their recent photos together at Liverpool Comic Con, which took place late last year. “Do you keep in touch with Kit [Harington] and the other cast members? Could there be a reunion”?”
“I regularly do reunions with Kit and Rose [Leslie],” Emilia revealed. Kit and Rose portrayed Jon Snow and Ygritte on Game of Thrones, respectively. The two actors have been married since 2018, and share two children together. The couple met while playing love interests on the series. Later in the series, Kit’s character becomes romantically involved with Emilia’s character, Daenerys. In true Game of Thrones fashion, the pair were actually aunt and nephew, although the characters were unaware of this.
“They’re my genuine friends,” Emilia said of Rose and Kit. “And I see Iain as much as I can. I love him.”
Since her debut on Game of Thrones, Emilia has also starred as a young Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genisys (2015), and Qi’ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). On television, she had a main role in Marvel’s Secret Wars series, and will now be embarking on the spy thriller series, Ponies.
