Sara Foster has opened up about a first— and seemingly only — date with George Clooney. The actress, 44, spoke on The World’s First Podcast about dating the veteran actor when she was 24 years old, making George around 44 at the time.
“It was such a blah. Sorry, had to say it,” Foster revealed on the podcast. The pair were set up by mutual friends Cindy Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber.
Sara Foster said her date with George Clooney “was such a hard no”
The 90210 actress made it clear she wasn’t interested in dating an older man. “It was just such a hard no. I remember thinking, ‘Oh, he is so old,’” Foster stated on the January 15 episode of the podcast.
“I always say that when I see these young girls dating older guys. Like, yes, of course, sometimes it makes sense, and it’s all the things. I’ve never understood a 19-year-old that’s into a 40-year-old. I just always thought that was so weird.”
The Nobody Wants This creator said she felt embarrassed, even “offended” over this setup. “I’m sure George Clooney is a nice guy, but I just remember it being the four of us sitting there and thinking like, ‘I’m gonna die, like I’m gonna die,’” she said.
To make matters worse, the Barely Famous star was “so sad” over a recent breakup. “Then, here’s this one who just feels like a grandpa. It was depressing. I was so depressed.”
“I started crying about my ex to him. So I think he was like, ‘This chick’s not okay.’”
“I also think it wasn’t George being like, ‘Oh, set me up with Sara Foster’,” she said in George’s defense. “I think it was more like Rande and Cindy being like, ‘We know someone great,’ I don’t think he was that into it either.”
George has been married to human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin since 2014, and they share two children. Sara was in a relationship with tennis player Tommy Haas for 18 years, ending in 2024.
