Social media can bring people together and at the same time tear them apart, a lesson David Beckham is discovering. The former professional footballer was grilled by reporters following his son’s rant about the Beckham family.
Although he didn’t address Brooklyn’s harsh words online, David did say, “I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media . . . For the good and for the bad.” He didn’t respond to the shade thrown at his family, particularly his wife, Victoria. The Inter Miami President did say that, for him, you sometimes have to let your children make mistakes.

Unlike Brooklyn, David was recently extremely cagey and cautious, it seems, not to say too much about the family situation. That was the opposite of his eldest son, who blasted his family on Instagram. While he had strong words for his family, he seemed particularly peeved with Victoria. He alleged that she danced inappropriately during his wedding party while blasting her conduct on that evening.
While not addressing the Brooklyn situation directly, David discussed social media’s power and toxicity in a recent interview with CNBC’s Squawk Box. He talked about how he’s used social media to do good on platforms like UNICEF. He adds that he has also used it “to educate them,” as in his kids.
Among the other things Brooklyn was notably absent from was his dad’s 50th birthday celebration. According to him, he and his wife, Nicola Peltz, were rejected for a week before the event in London. David was a guest on CNBC to discuss the latest market trends and the state of the US economy, among other topics.
David has been very tight-lipped lately about his son’s behavior, but according Brooklyn, that’s not how he and his wife normally conduct themselves. Brooklyn says the couple continues going to the press about family matters. For him, that leaves him with no choice but to retaliate with his own public criticism. He says that he has no desire to reconcile with his family.
