A massive replica of an alleged birthday message from Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein has been installed near the U.S. Capitol. The display references a birthday message reportedly included in a 2003 album for Epstein and comes amid scrutiny surrounding Trump’s association with Epstein.
Huge replica of birthday card allegedly sent by Donald Trump to Epstein
A huge art installation referencing an alleged birthday message from Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein appeared on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. It has drawn renewed attention to the president’s disputed ties to Epstein. The display was installed early Monday near the U.S. Capitol and is permitted to remain on the Mall through Friday.
The structure, which stands approximately 10 feet tall and 12 feet wide, depicts a birthday card that surfaced publicly last year as part of documents released by the House Oversight Committee. Investigators said the card was included in a 2003 birthday book compiled for Epstein’s 50th birthday and allegedly included Trump. Epstein died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
The replica features a short congratulatory message reading, “Happy birthday to a ‘Terrific guy!’” and includes a drawing of a nude woman similar to the one shown in the original document. The card displays both a typed “Donald J. Trump” and a handwritten “Donald” signature.
The installation was created by an anonymous group identifying itself as The Secret Handshake. In front of the replica card, the group has placed a display designed to resemble an open filing cabinet labeled “The Files,” with drawers overflowing with strips of paper. Visitors are invited to sign the card and leave written messages using markers provided at the site. A notice warns that any violent, hateful, or offensive content will be removed.
Trump has repeatedly denied writing the birthday message and has said the signature shown on the card is not his. He previously filed a defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal following its reporting on the alleged letter. The White House criticized the installation in a statement issued Monday (via The Washington Post).
