Stephen Graham lost his trophy after the 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony, held in Los Angeles on January 11. He is co-creator and star of the much heralded series Adolescence.
The actor won for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television. He also was honored as the show’s creator with Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television.

In an interview with UK radio show Capital Breakfast, which was shared January 19 on YouTube, Stephen said he misplaced his trophy following the ceremony. “I had to go straight from L.A. the day after to Madrid because I had to be on set the next day … It was weird, I had like three minutes to catch the plane,” he recalled. “It’s a next-level kind of thing. As I come off, a woman stood there with my name and she took me down the stairs, threw me in a car and drove me across the airport [on the runway].”
Stephen added things were more complicated due to a layover in Atlanta. “Alls I’m thinking is, my case isn’t gonna make it. I went, ‘Excuse me, love? There’s no way you’re getting my suitcase on this plane if I’m in a car now,’ and she’s like, ‘Oh no, don’t worry, we’ll take care of it,'” he explained. “And I was like, ‘No, no, no, no, you don’t understand,’ and she went, ‘I promise you, I promise you.’ Anyway, it didn’t land.”
The suitcase in Atlanta contained his socks, pants, suit, shoes and the Golden Globe trophy. He clarified, “No, I never left it! I put it in my case. That’s heavy, I wasn’t carrying that on me. But thankfully, thankfully, it turns up the day after. Two days after.”
Stephen is now appearing in Season 2 of A Thousand Blows on Disney+, which premiered on January 9.
