Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown Dodged Interview for This Emotional Reason

There’s already a plot twist off camera before the final season of Queer Eye begins. On Tuesday, the cast was without Karamo Brown for a promotional interview with the reality star pulling out the same day of the scheduled appearance.

That left his fellow castmates stunned as they aimed to promote the show. The American program, which has spawned versions worldwide, will air on Netflix later this week. In each episode of the show, the five advisors spend a week applying their expertise to help improve someone’s life situation. One reason is behind Karamo’s decision not to join his cast in this interview.

Karamo Brown was “worried about being bullied”

Getting hate and backlash is common among celebrities. That is evidently why the Fab Five were down to four on Tuesday’s edition of CBS Mornings. Host Gayle King announced on the air that Karamo would not be joining them for the interview. Robin read a statement from his publicist that said, “He’s (Karamo) worried about being bullied.”

The news was brought to Gayle and the CBS crews attention about an hour before going live with the other four cast members. The statement also says that Karamo’s focus has been on protecting mental health and peace from people and a world that attempts to destroy it.

Karamo’s absence didn’t appear to be something the cast members saw coming. Antoni Porowski expressed his surprise that The Real World: Philadelphia man chose not to attend. Antoni says, “Families are complicated. And we’re definitely not excluded from that.”

In July, it was announced that the 10th season would be the last one for the American show. While also expressing shock about Karamo’s absence, Jonathan Van Ness shared his admiration for Karamo. His decision not to appear comes two years after Bobby Berk left the show amid reported disagreements with Tan France.

Season 10 of Queer Eye will premiere on Netflix on January 21.
