Actress Blake Lively asked a famous friend to assist her with It Ends With Us director and costar Justin Baldoni. The emails were filed on Tuesday as part of Blake’s unsealed deposition. The two actors have been in a court battle since 2024.
Blake has accused Justin of sexual harassment, filing an initial complaint with the California Civil Rights Department. Justin, who denies the claims, countersued Blake; his suit was dismissed in June of last year.

Court documents obtained by Us Weekly on Tuesday, January 20 include an alleged email between Blake and Ben Affleck in May 2024. She asked him to “watch the movie and give me any ideas or notes” regarding her account of the movie. Blake allegedly wrote to Ben, “I’ve just come out the other side (well almost) of the most upsetting experience I’ve ever had on a movie. The making of doc of this film would be more interesting than the movie could ever be. It’s like if Wild Wild Country, Fyre Festival and Going Clear had a baby with The Room … Room also works though.”
Blake didn’t reference Justin by name, saying, “Anyway, I ended up rewriting and restructuring the entire script, I also ended up having to direct the movie via the chaotic clown ‘director’/actor/producer/financier/studio head at the center. Yes that’s all the same person.”
Blake asked Ben for advice, suggesting he send a voice text after viewing the movie cut she sent him. She would then “duke it out” with Justin on the film’s final cut. In 2024, it was reported that both stars edited their preferred versions of It Ends With Us.
In the alleged email, Blake said she’d like Ben’s kids’ or ex Jennifer Lopez’s take on the film. She also notes that her husband, Ryan Reynolds, asked Ben’s friend Matt Damon to give his opinion on the movie. Messages between Blake, Ryan, Matt and his wife, Luciana Barroso, were included in the Tuesday case filing. Matt offered his assistance in response.
Blake and Justin will meet in court for a civil trial starting this May.
