Ryan Reynolds’ Wife Reportedly Emailed Ben Affleck About Justin Baldoni

Ben Affleck was reportedly approached by Blake Lively during the production of It Ends With Us. The actress reached out to Affleck, seeking his feedback on her edit of the movie.

Blake Lively emailed Ben Affleck, reports claim

According to court filings obtained by various news outlets, Blake Lively had reportedly contacted Ben Affleck in May 2024. This happened when It Ends With Us was in post-production. In the email, the actress asked the Gone Girl star to review her edit of the movie. Notably, she referenced ongoing tensions with director Justin Baldoni.

Lively reportedly wrote, “I also ended up having to direct the movie via the chaotic clown ‘director’/actor/producer/financier/studio head at the center.” She added, “Yes, that’s all the same person.”

The actress also alleged that “everyone” Baldoni hired to work on the movie “is in a cult.” She further stated, “If I would’ve just formally directed it, it would’ve been much easier, but having to troubleshoot through his taste, ego and preexisting decisions made it so difficult and that’s not even touching on any of the wild HR issues and beyond.”

Sharing that she was amidst an editing “bake off,” Lively asked Affleck for his feedback on her cut. “If you have 1:58 of free time at any time in the next few days, would you be willing to watch the movie and give me any ideas or notes?” she wrote (via E! Online).

At one point in the email, Lively also got candid about her experience working in the film. “I just really want this to work after all I’ve put into it,” she said. “This movie nearly killed me. And I can think of very few people who would be as prescriptive and insightful as I know you would be.”

Lively went on to gush about Affleck’s work and complimented his then-wife Jennifer Lopez. The Gossip Girl star also revealed that Affleck’s longtime friend and collaborator Matt Damon will also take a look at the movie.

The email has come to light amid Blake Lively’s ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni. The actress filed a lawsuit against Baldoni in December 2024, accusing him of sexual harassment. Denying the allegations, the latter filed a countersuit, which the court dismissed in June. Lively’s case against Baldoni and his PR team is scheduled to go to trial on May 18, 2026.
