Heated Rivalry star François Arnaud has a fan in an unexpected celebrity.
The Canadian actor has been subject to an avalanche of newfound fans, thanks to the TV show’s immense popularity. Some of these fans have been long-time Hollywood heavyweights, too. Recently, François responded to Miley Cyrus’s proposal to provide season two with a song performed by the star. Now, he’s revealed a kind-hearted DM he recently received.
Heated Rivalry has struck a chord with Busy Philipps
In an interview with People, François admitted he’s “trying to not look at my DMs,” during this intense period of newfound attention. There was one, however, that caught his eye.
“There’s a wide span of reactions to it,” Arnaud said of reactions to the LGBT romance series. “Some people, like Busy Philipps, reacted to it in such a genuine, warm way.”
Busy has been a major Hollywood actor for over a quarter of a century. “She’s someone that I used to watch when I was young, like [as] a kid, in Freaks and Geeks,” François said of the iconic 1999 teen show. The actress and comedian is also known for hits such as White Chicks, Dawson’s Creek, and her late-night talk show, Busy Tonight.
Busy posted a video of herself sobbing after watching the penultimate episode of Heated Rivalry on Instagram on December 30. “I love you Heated Rivalry,” she wrote in the caption. “Thank you for bringing it home so hard.”
Reflecting on these emotional reactions, François remains humbled. “You don’t really expect things to hit on such a deep level and for people to react to it,” he told People. “I’m really glad that the conversation kind of shifted from how smutty and sexy and hot it was to how life-changing that can be for people.”
