Buzz Aldrin Rescued and Moved After Being ‘Abandoned’ in ‘Filth’

Former astronaut Buzz Aldrin was relocated to a clean, safe Los Angeles condo after reportedly living in filthy conditions. The famous fighter pilot recently celebrated 96 years on his birthday with his family.

Buzz made three spacewalks as pilot of the 1966 Gemini 12 mission and was the Lunar Module Eagle pilot on the 1969 Apollo 11 mission. He was the second person to walk on the Moon after mission commander Neil Armstrong.

Buzz’s friend Steven Barber pleaded with Donald Trump to help re-home the astronaut in a Radar interview in late 2025.

He detailed Buzz’s “horrific” living conditions last month, saying he was “abandoned” and “dying” in his bed. “This is not the way that this man should be spending the last seconds of his life,” Barber said. “There’s no family, there’s nothing. It’s about the saddest thing I’ve ever seen. This is not how the second man on the moon should leave the Earth for the last time. He’s [part of] the first freaking crew to the moon.”

RadarOnline revealed that Buzz is ailing and was “living in his own filth” because his family “abandoned” the space hero.

The Aldrin family recently confirmed Buzz moved to a new San Fernando Valley home near them.

After the move, Steven provided an update, saying, “The story (on Radar) got it done. Buzz ended up in a beautiful condo. This guy is a national treasure — and because you ran the story, this happened. Had Radar not believed in the story, he’d still be sitting in a pile of sh*t.”

A Facebook post on the Aldrin Family Foundation’s profile showed the famous fighter pilot in an Apollo mission t-shirt surrounded by his children, grandchildren and other relatives. In another photo, Buzz saluted the camera while outside at night and wearing a U.S. Space Force hat.

The post’s caption said, “Happy 96th Birthday to our dad, Buzz Aldrin! We had a delightful birthday celebration, surrounded by family at home. Thank you for all the well-wishes from around the globe. It made his day even more special. Dad is loving his new place, and we’re thrilled to have him close by to spend more time together. – Andy & Jan.”
