Spencer Pratt just published his first memoir, aptly titled The Guy You Loved to Hate – Confessions from a Reality TV Villain. Inside these pages, this alum of The Hills detailed his upbringing in Santa Monica, California. Here, he grew up with many celebrities. But when one of his well-known peers wasn’t looking, Spencer’s villainous side entered his inner chats, encouraging him to do something wild in the name of self-preservation. Here’s the tea.
Spencer Pratt took $50k after leaking Mary-Kate Olsen and Henry Winkler’s son’s photo

In his new memoir, Spencer noted that he, Mary-Kate Olsen, and her then-boyfriend, Max Winkler, whose father is the legendary Henry Winkler, all went to the same school. During this period, Spencer needed some cold, hard cash to help properly direct a film. So, he discovered a “wasted resource” in Max’s bedroom. And by that, he was referring to a “photo shrine” that Max had, which heavily featured Mary-Kate, with whom Max had recently split.
Spencer next described these images as “young love documented in European hotels, Hollywood parties, [and] stolen moments.” Spencer noted that he strongly encouraged Max to take down these pictures. And then, he just went ahead and did the grunt work for his buddy.
“I asked Max if I could take the photos off his wall — you know, for his healing process,” Spencer penned. “He didn’t say no, so I took that to be a yes.” Giddy with his haul, Spencer left, taking all of these pictures with him. He then sold these personal images to a photo agency for $50,000, which made him feel “rich.”
And then, “Less than a week later, there it was, evidence of my entrepreneurial genius staring back at me from the InTouch cover at a gas station: ‘TEENS GONE WILD!’ across the cover,” Spencer wrote. But funnily enough, there were other images in this release that Spencer “hadn’t sold,” one of which featured himself. “Someone else was shopping, and now I wasn’t just the seller, I was part of the merchandise,” Spencer quipped.
