Joy Behar is never one to miss a political debate on The View, but the host has been absent from Monday and Tuesday’s episodes so far this week.
Joy typically has a long weekend, regularly taking a day off on Mondays. However, the comedian was also absent the following day. Co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin were all in attendance, but Joy’s absence was still felt.
The View’s Joy Behar wasn’t feeling great
This week, the women of The View discussed Donald Trump’s administrations’ response to the growing unrest in Minneapolis this month. The hosts got into a deep discussion about the killing of Alex Pretti at the hands of ICE, and Trump’s defense of the fatal shooting as an act of self-defense, even though the intensive care nurse was unarmed when he was shot.
The View hosts were joined by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro this week. The Governor called the shooting of Alex Pretti “extremely disturbing”. He also accused the administration of deploying ICE to violate the constitutional rights of Minneapolis citizens.
Normally, Joy, a fellow democrat, would be highly engaged in this discussion, but she wasn’t there to join in. The politician appeared on the show to promote his upcoming memoir.
Fortunately, Whoopi explained why Joy was absent. “So we want to let you know Joy is out. She’s not feeling well,” she told the viewers. “We want her to feel better and get her behind back here.”
Whoopi did not disclose what the source of Joy’s ill health was. She also did not mention a return date for the opinionated broadcaster.
Joy will be keen to return as soon as she can, as the hosts and guests lend their voices to the growing criticism against Trump’s administration. Viewers will certainly be sending their best “get well soon” wishes.
