Jacob Elordi is a man of his word. The Australian actor has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in the movie Frankenstein. He and his mother have always had a special bond.
Melissa always believed her son would make it big one day, whereas Jacob’s father urged him to have a backup plan. The Euphoria actor hasn’t forgotten his mother’s faith in him and is rewarding her ahead of a big night for him.

Jacob’s plus one has been revealed as he seeks to collect his first golden statuette on March 15th. By his side for Oscar night will be his mom. On Tuesday’s edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Jacob explained why he’s taking Melissa as his date. “I promised her when I was 15 that I would take her. So, I have to honor that.”
While she’s apparently cool with most celebrities, there’s one that may catch her eye at the Oscars. “Yeah, John Travolta (and) I’d probably usher her to the next room,” admitted Jacob. He says that his plan B was the Oscars, where he earned his name on the ballot for the first time.
Even though his dad urged him not to put all his eggs in one basket, he’s still extremely proud of his son’s achievement. Jacob says that John put a bottle of champagne on ice before the Academy Award nominees were announced. Upon hearing Jacob’s name on the list, he called him from Australia after midnight to celebrate.
Jacob opened up about his love life in December, saying he doesn’t hear “I love you” enough. Also, in the running for supporting actor are Delroy Lindo, Stellan Skarsgard, Sean Penn, and Benicio Del Toro. This year’s Oscars will be hosted by Conan O’Brien.
