LeBron James Left in Tears After Cleveland Cavaliers Tribute in Potential Last Home Game

LeBron James hasn’t forgotten about where he came from. The NBA legend has been the face of the league for years, while becoming the all-time leading scorer. Born in Akron, Ohio, he is playing in his 23rd season as a professional and his eighth with the Los Angeles Lakers.

On Wednesday, the Lakers were at Rocket Arena to face the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron knows the team and fanbase well, having two hugely successful stints with them in the NBA. His most recent return to Cleveland was especially emotional.

Twice, he transformed a struggling Cleveland franchise into a contender. His two departures from the Cavaliers drew heartache and even for some outrage. However, the organization still appreciates everything he’s done.

During a first-quarter break on Wednesday, a tribute video about LeBron was seen on the Jumbotron at Rocket Arena. King James had tears in his eyes upon watching the video.

The moment was a lot for the former first overall pick to take in. Speaking to ESPN, LeBron said that he was just trying to take it all in. He also hinted that Wednesday may have been the last time he plays an NBA game in Cleveland. “I obviously haven’t made a decision on the future, but it very well could be,” said LeBron.

LeBron played his first seven NBA seasons with the Cavs. They drafted him first overall in 2003 straight out of high school. He notably scored 48 points for them in an epic game five victory over the Detroit Pistons in the 2007 Eastern Conference finals, including 25 in a row.

His biggest moment, though, came in 2016, when he helped them win the NBA title for the first time in franchise history. They erased a 3-1 series deficit to upset the Golden State Warriors.

He has four NBA rings, two with the Miami Heat, one with the Cavs and one in LA. He’s also got three Olympic gold medals and is a 21 time NBA all-star. Earlier this month, though, it was revealed he wouldn’t be a starter for this year’s game.
