Kenan Thompson is being taken to court, over accusations of violating the rules of his lease.
The Saturday Night Live fan favorite is being sued for the hefty sum of $34,000. In the documents obtained by TMZ, the comedian’s landlord claims the star broke broke his lease on a rental home owned by the plaintiff. However, Kenan is ready to fight this claim in the courts.
Kenan Thompson is being taken to court by a landlord

The SNL star allegedly breached the terms of a 12-month lease for a 3-bedroom rental property in Los Angeles, according to TMZ. In the documents detailing the suit, Kenan entered the agreement in September last year, for a lease starting October 1. The supposed deal involved $10,250 in rent for a year, followed by month-to-month.
The landlord alleges that the Kenan and Kel star owes $17,425 in unpaid rent for November and December 2025. Moreover, the breach cost him severe financial losses during the period, as he struggled to find a replacement tenant. Additionally, the landlord says Kenan owes him the $15,750 to cover this loss, which he is liable for. He is also being charged a $871 late fee, a $9,594 broker fee, and $1,000 in “legal fees recoverable under the lease.”
Kenan, however, is denying any wrongdoing towards the landlord, according to sources close to the comedian. Firing back at these claims, they allege that no money is owed, and the lease agreement was never violated.
The unnamed sources say the disagreement was not over rent payment. Rather, Kenan never received the keys to the three-bedroom property, let alone set foot on the property.
If that is the case, it would be difficult for a landlord to charge rent for a property he never provided to the tenant. Arguably, this would mean Kenan was never a tenant at all.
