Heated Rivalry’s Hudson Williams Throws Leg Over Canadian PM Mark Carney

Has Heated Rivalry’s Ilya Rozanov got competition? Not quite. But Hudson Williams, who plays Shane Hollander on the hit show, just got very friendly with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

On January 30, a gala was held in Ottawa to promote the Canadian film industry. And, it was on the gala’s red carpet that Canadian actor Hudson and PM Mark met. During their moment together, Hudson gifted the PM a fleece, adorned with maple leaves, from the show. But that’s not all …

As the duo stood side-by-side, Mark was clearly feeling playful, telling Hudson: “Do the leg thing.” Hudson then proceeded to do exactly that with the Canadian leader, as they both smiled and posed for the cameras.

Later on, during a speech at the event, Mark described Hudson as his “new best friend,” per The Guardian. He also spoke about the impact of Heated Rivalry, which made Hudson and co-star Connor Storrie overnight celebrities, as well as its importance for the Canadian film and TV industry.

The PM said that studios “south of the border” want to tone down the content of Heated Rivalry. “What is the point of that?” he said. Mark then added that the show should only be made in Canada because it’s a country that “celebrates what makes us different.”

“They’re two young men who are terrified of being their fullest selves,” he said of Heated Rivalry’s lead characters, Ilya and Shane. “And we live in an increasingly dangerous, divided and intolerant world, and the hard-fought rights of the 2SLGBTQI+ community are under threat.”

“Hudson Williams with the Prime Minister of Canada, big moment! So inspiring to see this,” said X user @001Xtasy of the encounter. “That is quite a photo op,” added @Reuben_044.
