Charli xcx just came clean about a decade-old fashion faux pas … and issued an apology to Mary J. Blige over it.
Reflecting on her outfit from the 2015 Grammys (see: a pastel suit with a fluffy stole), Charli admitted that bits of fluff fell off and landed on Mary, who was sitting nearby.

Speaking to stylist Nicky Campbell on the Gloves Off podcast this week, Charli said the 2015 outfit was “memorable for all the wrong reasons.”
“The fluffy thing was molting everywhere,” she said of the pink, fluffy stole that she draped over herself. Charli then revealed that Mary, seated in front of her, was “covered in pink fluff” as a result.
“I didn’t have the heart to either tell her or start picking it off her, and I just let it be,” the singer admitted. “Mary J. Blige, I’m so sorry for ruining your outfit with my fluff.”
Commenting on the outfit as a whole, Charli revealed she wasn’t really a fan. “I think it actually could’ve been better if I’d done different hair and makeup,” she said. In her opinion, opting for a “completely clean” cosmetic look with “really neat” hair would have improved the overall look.
For Charli, her outfit – and the impact it had on Mary – wasn’t the only thing memorable about that night. Her attendance at the 2015 Grammys coincided with her first-ever nominations at the awards show. She and Iggy Azalea were nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their collaboration on Fancy.
Charli didn’t win that time around, but has since won three Grammy Awards, all for her critically acclaimed album, Brat.
