Chappell Roan turned heads at the Grammy Awards over the weekend, walking the red carpet in a red dress … attached to a pair of nipple piercings. The iconic look made headlines worldwide and was celebrated by fans on social media. But one person who definitely wasn’t a fan of the outfit is Megyn Kelly.
Megyn Kelly called Chappell Roan’s Grammys outfit “very unattractive”
Speaking on her podcast after the award show, Megyn referred to Chappell as the “most absurd” person at the ceremony. And branded her outfit just the same.
“Her face, her hair, it’s all very, very unattractive,” the journalist and political commentator said in the episode, titled: Ridiculous Anti-ICE Celebs at Grammys.
Not content with criticizing Chappell’s appearance, Megyn laughed when mentioning her sexuality and status as a queer icon, as well as picking on her mental health. Referring to the singer’s mental health as “issues,” Megyn commented on Chappell’s “really depressed childhood” and bipolar diagnosis.
“I think we could have known a lot of that without really any words, just the dress and the decision-making behind it,” she remarked.
Meanwhile, Chappell had an entirely different take on her custom MUGLER outfit, which is inkeeping with her artistic styling. “Giggling because I don’t even think this is THAT outrageous of an outfit,” the singer said on Instagram. “The look’s actually so awesome and weird. I recommend just exercising your free will, it’s really fun and silly.”
In the comments, the reaction was much nicer than that of Megyn and her podcast guest. “I love this look,” said drag artist Courtney Act. “Icon and legend,” added Adore Delano.
“This is everything,” someone else commented. A fourth wrote: “Some people have never seen boobs in their life and it shows. You looked absolutely INCREDIBLE!”
