Elon Musk weighed in on Billie Eilish’s controversial Grammy Awards speech, where she denounced ICE and declared “F*** ICE” on stage. The tech billionaire responded publicly, sparking fresh debate over the singer’s political activism and past comments.
Elon Musk calls out Billie Eilish over her speech
At the 2026 Grammy Awards, Billie Eilish used her Song of the Year acceptance speech to denounce U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). “No one is illegal on stolen land,” Eilish said, adding, “We just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting.” She concluded with, “‘F*** ICE’ is all I want to say.” Earlier, Eilish had called Musk a “pathetic p**** b**** coward” over wealth hoarding at the 2025 WSJ Innovator Awards.
In response, Elon Musk posted on X on February 3, 2026, stating, “She’s such a hypocrite!” The post has since garnered 1.6 million views and over 2,600 replies.
This follows his earlier reaction to her Innovator Awards speech, where she questioned billionaires’ ethics: “If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire?” Musk replied to the criticism at the time by saying, “She’s not the sharpest tool in the shed.”
Eilish had previously announced she would donate $11.5 million from her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour to various charities, saying during the WSJ event, “People need empathy and help more than, kind of, ever.” She delivered the speech before attendees, including Mark Zuckerberg. Her Instagram stories featured infographics suggesting Musk could end world hunger or provide clean water globally by reallocating his wealth.
Musk’s reply comes amid broader artist criticism of ICE during the Grammys. Bad Bunny, while accepting Best Música Urbana Album, declared, “ICE out,” and emphasized, “We are humans, and we are Americans.” Olivia Dean noted her immigrant heritage in her Best New Artist speech, while SZA urged hope and faith when accepting Record of the Year for “Luther.”
