There’s another disturbing twist in the case of Nancy Guthrie. The mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie went missing this past weekend. Savannah and the family are very concerned, as it’s not like her to just vanish out of nowhere.
Police on Monday said they didn’t believe that was the case. Sheriff Chris Nanos with Prime County in Arizona says they now believe that Nancy was “taken” from her home in the middle of the night. Thus, they are desperate to track her down before it’s too late.

Time is running out in the search for Nancy. In an exclusive interview with US Weekly, Chris says, “This is an 84-year-old lady who is safe in her own home asleep.” He adds that “should never happen.” Based on all the information Chris believes an abduction took place. He says he felt something was off when they searched her home but said that need to act quickly.
On Tuesday morning, there was more news on her disappearance. The Los Angeles Times reports that there was blood found inside Nancy’s home. It’s unclear whose blood it was.
Chris calls the whole situation extremely concerning, with the 84-year-old reported missing on Sunday. This was after she wasn’t present for her usual church service. On Monday, Chris said that based on their investigation, the matter was being treated as a criminal act. Nancy lives alone in her home, with her husband Charles having passed away years ago.
At her age, Nancy is dealing with mobility issues and requires daily medication. Chris says they know she did not walk out of her home on her own. He adds that for him, it was not dementia related in any way. Despite her age, she is said to be sharp as a tack and very aware of her surroundings.
Savannah has been absent from the anchor desk of her NBC show since news of her mom’s disappearance broke. She travelled to Arizona to be closer to her family.
