Chef Ben Robinson is “BACK BABY.” Fans never really know what Ben might say next. But Captain Jason Chambers, his new boss on Below Deck Down Under, can confirm one of Ben’s latest statements. It was cheeky, yes, but as Captain Jason recently explained, Ben’s claim was also true.
Chef Ben really did take Captain Jason out for food before BDDU Season 4
In Episode 1, Ben hysterically reintroduced himself to the cameras. “It’s been about six years since I’ve worked on a yacht. But you know what? The stars have aligned, my little darlings, and I am here, and I am back,” he said.
After touching on his failed engagement, Ben explained that he crossed paths with Captain Jason. To celebrate their encounter, Ben took Captain Jason out to “lunch at the Outback Steakhouse, because he’s Australian. It’s the only Australian place I know,” Ben joked. During their lunch, Ben learned that Captain Jason’s chef had just backed out of filming, so Ben came out of retirement, eager to help.
The outcome of this story is real, but what about the other details? Well, according to Captain Jason, who recently spoke with Decider, Ben wasn’t lying. “He definitely took me to the Outback Steakhouse for lunch,” Captain Jason stressed. He further admitted that he “had a good steak,” and he “might [even] go back there someday,” and “Maybe,” just maybe, “that’ll be my and Ben’s anniversary thing,” he laughed.
But on a serious note, “[Ben] had just gone through a breakup. So this also was a chance for him to get away,” Captain Jason noted. After all, “Ben’s a total professional and a business owner, so he really doesn’t need to do a charter season anymore.” So, “It was a blessing for him to pack up his bags and get to Canouan as quickly as he did.”
