Today Bosses Take New Steps To Protect Staff After Nancy Guthrie Disappearance

The safety and security of the Today staff is paramount. As such, the bosses of the show on NBC are adding extra security and police at its studio in New York City. This comes in the aftermath of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. Nancy is the mother of Today co-host Savannah Guthrie.

She was reported missing on Sunday, with foul play suspected. Savannah has been absent from the anchor desk as they search for her mother in Arizona. Evidently, NBC don’t want a similar incident to happen to one of its other Today staff members.

There is a lot of tension behind the scenes on the NBC program, and the network hopes its measures will ease people’s minds. Multiple sources revealed to the US Sun that “NBC has stepped up security for on-air talent.” They say that NBC is partnering with the NYPD to ensure staff are safe “out of an abundance of caution.”

On Tuesday’s episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, Sheinelle Jones confessed that everyone there is a little rattled by what happened to Savannah’s mom. Many at the show have reportedly been having trouble sleeping since the incident.

The last known time someone saw Nancy was around 9:30 pm on Saturday. That’s when Savannah’s sister Annie and her mom finished dinner and went their separate ways. The Pima County Sheriff’s office isn’t ruling out any possibilities in this matter.

Yesterday, TMZ alleged they had a ransom note sent to them regarding the disappearance. They say the note demanded payment of millions in Bitcoin. They verified that the Bitcoin address was real before sending the note to the Pima County Sheriff’s office.

Tracking down Nancy is a top priority, seeing as she is 84 and requires daily medication. She has high blood pressure, a pacemaker and cardiac issues.
