As the search for Nancy Guthrie enters its sixth day, police have confirmed traces of blood were found on the porch of her home, and who they belong to.
To recap, Nancy, who is the mother of Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home in Arizona on January 31. She was reported missing the following morning, and investigators believe she was abducted.
Now the case has taken another sad turn, as the public learns more information.
Blood found in Nancy Guthrie’s home did belong to Savannah’s mother
Earlier this week, News Nation released a video of the outside of Nancy’s home. It showed dried droplets of blood on the paving outside her front door, as well as a trail of blood leading away from the property. Now, authorities have confirmed that the blood belongs to Nancy, who is 84 years old.
Despite this, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters at a press conference on February 5 that investigators believe Nancy is “still out there.” Shortly afterwards, Savannah’s brother, Camron Guthrie, shared a pleading video on Instagram.
“Whoever is out there holding our mother, we want to hear from you,” he said. “We haven’t heard anything directly. We need you to reach out, and we need a way to communicate with you so we can move forward.”
Investigators have not identified any potential suspects, but agents are investigating a ransom letter. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is now offering a reward in relation to the case.
“The #FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance,” the official @FBI account on X posted.
Meanwhile, on her own social media, Savannah shared a heartfelt message. “Everyone is looking for you, Mommy, everywhere,” she said in a video on Instagram. “We will not rest. Your children will not rest until we are together again.”
