Jessica Simpson‘s son may be just 12 years old, but he already stands nearly a head taller than his mother, a reminder of just how fast kids grow up. The actor took to her Instagram Stories on February 5 to post a photo that showed her posing with her tween son.

Jessica Simpson welcomed son Ace Knute Johnson with ex-husband Eric Johnson in June 2013. In her latest Instagram Story, she shared a new photo with her son. In the monochromatic image, the mother-son duo stood side by side in what appeared to be a kitchen. Simpson was wearing a jacket with her minidress peeking from underneath, while Ace was dressed in his basketball uniform.
The picture shows Ace with an arm around his mother’s shoulders, sweetly planting a kiss on her forehead. The actor stood with her eyes blissfully closed. Above the photo, she wrote in red, “My 12yr old Ace is much taller than is Mama.” Referring to Ben E. King’s Stand by Me, which she had set to the photo, she revealed, “Fun fact… he was born to this tune.”
In July 2025, the 45-year-old shared a sweet Instagram post for Ace, featuring a carousel of photos celebrating his 12th birthday. They had visited Six Flags to celebrate the day, and photos showed them enjoying themselves. In the caption, she wrote, “Happy 12th Birthday Ace!!! You are the sun. You are the moon.”
Simpson concluded the post, writing, “You’re just that kid with a heart of gold that can do it ALL. Everything you do and all that you are makes me so very proud. I love you ACE the GREAT!” She also has two daughters, Maxwell Drew Johnson and Birdie Mae Johnson, who are 13 and 6, respectively.
