It’s hard not to get emotional about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, even if you’re tasked with tracking her down. The 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie has not been seen since Saturday night, while police remain without a suspect or person of interest.
Nancy’s family has released a couple of videos pleading with those who might have taken her. They’re urging them to reach out to discuss this matter.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos says they’re treating this matter as a crime. Chris has been desperate to find out where she is, and it seems like, it’s taken a toll on him emotionally as it has for everyone involved. Authorities are investigating a ransom note shared with the media. Meanwhile, an arrest was made following another ransom note, which was deemed to be fake.
The search for Savannah Guthrie’s mom Nancy continues

The search may be coming up empty, but the Pima County Sheriff is still hopeful that Nancy is out there, alive. Chris recently spoke with Liz Kreutz of NBC on Today. The emotional Sheriff was asked what gives him hope that the mother of three is still alive. “You have to have hope,” said a choked-up Chris. He assured everybody, “We’re gonna find her.”
Chris is far from the only person to be taken aback by this alleged kidnapping. Gayle King, who works for Savannah’s rival network at CBS Mornings, was fighting back tears upon watching Savannah’s plea to the alleged kidnappers. Nancy’s family want proof of life before possibly negotiating with those who might have taken their mother.
For their part, the FBI has offered a $50,000 reward for anyone who can provide information that might help in this case. Police have confirmed that the blood found at Nancy’s house is, in fact, her own. She requires daily medication for her heart problems. Nancy was last seen alive when her daughter Annie dropped her off at her Tucson home on Saturday.
