David Thewlis seems to have moved on from the glory days of Harry Potter. The British actor portrayed Remus Lupin in a handful of movies based on the iconic book series written by J.K. Rowling. In a recent interview, David admits that he’s “sick of talking about it.”
His character was first introduced to fans in the 2004 film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third movie in the franchise. He originally enters as Harry’s new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.
David Thewlis is tired of the Harry Potter questions
With a new Harry Potter TV series coming out soon, some wonder if David has any interest in being a part of it. The Golden Globe nominee believes he’s far too old to reprise his role as Remus, nor would he want to return. “I’ve had quite enough of that,” David said in an interview with ScreenTime. He did say that it is nice to see so many kids happy with the Harry Potter franchise.
David has other things to focus on outside of the Harry Potter world these days. He’s out promoting the series The Artful Dodger. On the show, he portrays Norbert Fagin, a convicted thief. He played Remus in five Harry Potter films.
The new Harry Potter series will debut on HBO. Child actors Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton are among those cast, joining veteran actors John Lithgow and Nick Frost among others. Back in November, Dominic got a touching letter from actor Daniel Radcliffe expressing his support for the youngster who will portray Harry Potter in the new show. Daniel played the famous wizard on the big screen.
An adaptation of the show was first announced in 2023 and is currently in production. The series will adapt one book in J.K.’s seven-novel series per season. Season one of the show is expected to premiere in 2027.
