Jelly Roll’s Wife Tackles Troll Who Called Him ‘Performative Christian’

Bunnie Xo had a blunt message for those hating on her husband following his 2026 Grammy speech. Jelly Roll talked about his faith on stage at the big show, with some labelling him as a “performative Christian.” The Son of Sinnner singer has had his troubles with the law in the past, going to prison many times in his younger years.

He took home three Grammys this year, the first three of his career. Bunnie called out those criticizing her husband, slamming the backlash he’s been facing.

Bunnie is not one to take hate very well and rarely talks with a filter. On her Dumb Blonde Podcast, she tore into those who’d slammed Jelly’s Grammy speeches. Bunnie says people are “weaponizing the Bible and religion way more than they are celebrating the name of Jesus.” For her, it’s gotten to the point where those people are proving why some do not want to be a Christian.

At the same time, Bunnie admits to having a complicated relationship with religion. Growing up she claims not wanting to be Christian because much of what she witnessed in the religion was hypocrisy. She says that seeing how her husband was massacred for preaching his faith online made her not want to associate with that type of Christianity.

After winning Best Contemporary Album at the Grammys, Jelly said, “First of all, Jesus, I hear you, and I am listening, Lord. I am listening, Lord.” He went on to mention Jesus a few more times, saying that Jesus is for everybody. Among the other things Jelly made headlines for was the thought of donating one of his three awards to a prison in Nashville.

Meanwhile, Bunnie called the social media response to his speech horrific and sad. She had no problem sharing plenty of salty language to describe those trolling her husband.
