Mark Ruffalo Confesses To Real Crime: ‘Will There Be Any Cops Watching?’

Mark Ruffalo has always been honest during his prolific Hollywood career — but he may soon regret the very honest confession he made during a recent interview with IGN.

The Poor Things actor spoke with the outlet about his past run-ins with the law while discussing his new film role. Very appropriately, the upcoming film, in which he co-stars with Chris Hemsworth and Barry Keoghan, is named Crime 101. The activist even revealed he once had a warrant out for his arrest during his 13-year-long offense.

“Will there be any cops watching, do you think?” Mark quipped before confessing to his crimes in the interview. “You promise there won’t be?”

“I drove illegally in [Los Angeles] for like 13 years on a suspended license with a bench warrant out for my arrest,” he revealed. A bench warrant is issued by the court when a person fails to appear or comply with court orders. The warrant can result in your arrest or even jail time for serious offences.

“What?!” Mark’s co-star and interview partner, Halle Berry, exclaimed. The interviewer was also in disbelief. “Really?!”

“Yeah,” the Marvel actor laughed. “But you wanna know something? I became the best driver in LA.”

“I never broke a law, because I was too afraid I’d get busted,” Mark revealed. Thankfully, Mark is no longer in legal trouble, but he was punished in a highly unusual way.

“The only reason that I dug myself out of that hole is when I met my wife, she found out I had a warrant and my license was suspended,” he continued. “And she broke up with me!”

“And I was like, ‘I’ll fix it. I’ll fix it!'” he added. “No, no, no, no! You can’t break up with me because of that!” He explained the rationale of his now-wife of 26 years. “‘I need to be with someone who is serious about life,” he recalled her saying.

“I went in front of the judge, and I was like ‘I’m an actor, I’m really depressed,'” he said. “And he’s like, ‘Okay,’ and he gave me pennies on the dollar. And I paid all of it back. I got myself out of trouble.”

“And I kept my wife!”
