Per Entertainment Weekly, Whoopi Goldberg talked about Alyssa Farah Griffin’s baby, saying, “The first thing we want to do is start by congratulating Alyssa and her husband Justin on the birth of their baby boy, Justin Patrick Griffin Jr.” She added, “He weighed in at seven pounds and [is] 19 and a half inches.”
As Entertainment Weekly reported, the baby’s height and weight surprised the audience and Joy Behar. Goldberg followed up with a reassuring update on how Griffin and her newborn are doing. She stated, “Both mom and baby are doing well. I’m sure they’re tired, but they’re doing well.”
Behar then celebrated and asked why the show did not have confetti ready for the news. Sara Haines jumped in with a reminder about who did the hard part, saying, “We didn’t push babies out, she did” — but Behar still argued the panel deserved some credit for the on-air excitement, saying, “We were here for it, though.” Goldberg joked, “We’ll confetti her when she comes back. We’ll just throw it, because you know, once it goes it in your hair, it’s there for years.”
The baby announcement came one day after Goldberg explained Alyssa Farah Griffin’s absence from the Hot Topics table, revealing, “I don’t know if you saw the show yesterday, but it turned out Alyssa was right about Bad Bunny’s halftime show putting her into labor.”
She explained, “It put her into labor! She’s at the hospital right now! And we are wishing her the best as she waits for her baby boy to arrive.” Griffin first revealed her pregnancy on the show in October. She announced, “I’m so overjoyed,” and spoke openly about her fertility journey.
