Rosie O’Donnell is weighing in on a big decision she made over a year ago. The former panellist on The View left the United States for Ireland in March 2025. Rosie and Donald Trump have had their share of differences, with both calling each other out publicly plenty of times.
In a TikTok video, she said that she needed to make some hard decisions about her future and follow through on them. That led her to relocate to Ireland. She recently returned to the US to visit family and took the time to reflect on her big move and the political climate in the US.
Rosie O’Donnell doesn’t regret moving to Ireland “at all”
Rosie is standing by her decision to leave the US last year. In an interview on the Sirius XM show Cuomo Mornings with Chris Cuomo, she still feels “good” about moving. She added that she does not regret the big move “at all.” She says she did what was needed to save herself, her child and her sanity. Rosie has applied for Irish citizenship through descent.
For her, the United States is a very different place today. She says there’s more balance in the news in Ireland. In addition to that, she says there’s not the same celebrity worship as in the US, and people in Ireland aren’t looking for more in news stories.
Rosie’s feud with Trump is among the many she’s had in her lengthy TV career. The host had a public spat on the air during an episode of The View with Elisabeth Hasselbeck years ago. In October, Rosie said she believed that was orchestrated by producers.
Last July, Trump said he was considering revoking Rosie’s citizenship. He said she was a threat to humanity. At a Republican Presidential debate in 2015, a reporter stated that the real estate mogul had called women pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals. Donald responded by saying, “Only Rosie O’Donnell.”
