Whoopi Goldberg has just issued an apology following the release of Netflix’s new, tell-all documentary, Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model. This three-part program serves almost like an accountability docuseries. As we all finally admit, America’s Next Top Model featured many toxic moments that would never fly in today’s society. Hence, Whoopi’s admission that she might’ve also reacted poorly when covering this former series on The View.
Whoopi Goldberg was briefly featured on the ANTM Netflix docuseries

In this three-part series, we saw Whoopi laughing from her chair on The View as she covered contestant Alexandra Underwood’s runway walk gone wrong. To explain, in 2010, one of ANTM’s runways featured suspended pendulums, one of which knocked Alexandra off course. This made Whoopi laugh, which she’s now (mostly) sorry about.
On today’s episode of The View, Whoopi admitted that “This was, to me, one of the funniest things I have ever seen in my life.” However, “I wanted to apologize because there is a person who got knocked off there. And her name is Alexandra Underwood from Cycle 14.” But then Whoopi continued laughing.
Cue another apology. As Whoopi explained, “I’m sorry I laughed at this. I couldn’t help it. It was funny as hell. But I am telling you, it was one of the funniest things. If I had to point to something, it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.”
As Whoopi laughed through her apology, Sara Haines, her co-star, thankfully came through, stating, “What she means is she’s sorry she’s still laughing about it.” Regardless, Whoopi stressed, Alexandra is now a “grown woman, maybe she’s got kids. And I just wanted her to know, I wasn’t laughing – I was laughing because to me, people slipping and falling, banana peels, [is funny].”
Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model is streaming on Netflix.
