King Charles and Prince William Not Informed Prior to Ex-Prince Andrew’s Shock Arrest

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has spent years dealing with fallout from his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. The controversy cost him his working royal role, military titles, and HRH status.

Now, the situation has become even more serious after authorities arrested him on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The development reportedly blindsided the monarchy, with both King Charles and Prince William said to have had no warning it was about to happen.

According to Page Six, neither Charles nor William received notice that Andrew would be taken into custody this morning, his 66th birthday. They only learned what was happening as events unfolded.

Charles quickly released a statement expressing his “deepest concern” over his younger brother’s detention. He also stressed that the legal process must proceed without interference. He wrote, “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation.”

He added, “Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”

Queen Camilla continued with a scheduled engagement hours later, attending a concert at Sinfonia Smith Square Hall in London as patron. She did not comment on allegations that Andrew forwarded confidential trade documents to Epstein during his time as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment.

If convicted, Andrew could face a maximum life sentence. William and Princess Kate have not spoken publicly. However, insiders say they support Charles’ stance. The king had already shared “profound concern” about Andrew’s Epstein connections last week. A spokesperson added his “thoughts and sympathies have been, and remain with, the victims of any and all forms of abuse.”
