Donald Trump is weighing in on a corporate controversy involving Netflix and one of its board members. The president warned the streaming giant would face “consequences” if it did not remove Susan Rice. His remarks escalate tensions amid broader political and regulatory scrutiny surrounding the company.
Donald Trump wants Netflix to fire Susan Rice
President Donald Trump called on Netflix to fire board member Susan Rice immediately or “pay the consequences.”
In a Truth Social post, Trump described Rice as “purely a political hack” with “no talent or skills” and wrote, “HER POWER IS GONE, AND WILL NEVER BE BACK.” His remarks followed comments Rice made on the “Stay Tuned with Preet” podcast.
During the podcast, Rice said, “This is not going to be an instance of forgive and forget. The damage that these people are doing is too severe to the American people and our national interest.” She also stated, “There is likely to be a swing in the other direction, and they are going to be caught with more than their pants down,” and added, “They’re going to be held accountable by those who come in opposition to Trump and win at the ballot box.”
Rice further said, “If these corporations think that Democrats, when they come back in power, are going to play by the old rules, and say, ‘Never mind, we will forgive you for all the people you fired and all the policies and principles you violated, all the laws you skirted,’ I think they got another thing coming.” Her comments referenced corporations, news organizations, and law firms she said had “bent the knee” to Trump.
Trump’s remarks come as Netflix pursues its $72 billion Warner Bros. Discovery deal under DOJ review. David Hyman said, “Any claim that it is a monopolist, or seeking to monopolize, is unfounded,” adding the company will “gladly cooperate” with regulators (via CNBC).
