Dr. Damon Kimes ‘Not Interested’ in Wife Dr. Heavenly’s Political Campaign

As Dr. Heavenly Kimes continues marching down her path to Congress, her husband, Dr. Damon Kimes, just shared his thoughts about the race. He wasn’t necessarily jumping for joy when he found out his wife wanted to venture into politics. In Married to Medicine Season 12 Episode 11, he opened up about how her unexpected career pivot could impact their marriage.

Heavenly and Damon’s relationship has been under a microscope in Season 12. They kicked things off by addressing their son’s arrest, which Damon kept a secret from Heavenly for years. She only found out when the news started floating around social media.

In the latest episode of M2M, Damon made another surprising confession when he revealed his thoughts about Heavenly’s political ambitions. It happened during the couples trip to Jamaica when the cast went to a youth center for a medical mission. They all spoke about their careers to inspire a group of bright-eyed kids.

Outside of the center, Damon and some of the husbands reflected on the importance of their mission and adding visibility in their respective fields. Damon weighed in, agreeing that it’s important to follow your path, and he compared that mindset to Heavenly’s political goals.

“I just feel like if you’re meant to do something, it just seems like it just keeps falling in place,” Damon said. “Like with Heavenly doing the political stuff, I’m not interested in her doing that — at all. But, you know, like, if you feel led to do something, just keep going.”

It’s a meaningful message, even though, on the surface, it sounds like a man who’s not fully supportive of his wife’s career ambitions. He later explained in a confessional that his feelings were coming from a selfish place. He just doesn’t want his “buddy” away from home!

Damon explained, “I don’t want her gone more. I want to be around her. I want her around me.”

“But sometimes things happen because they’re meant to happen,” he added.

Married to Medicine airs Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo. It streams the next day on Peacock.
