Jamie Lee Curtis Pays Tribute to ‘First Love’ Robert Carradine After Death

Jamie Lee Curtis is remembering an old flame. The Academy Award-winning actress, like many was shocked to learn about the death of Robert Carradine on Monday. The Revenge of the Nerds actor suffered from bipolar disorder for two decades.

Online, Jamie describes him as her “first love.” She and Robert co-starred in the 1977 film Joyride. She recalls meeting him on the Dinah Shore Show, which featured a bunch of second-generation actors. Being labelled as a nepo baby for having famous parents were among the things Jamie and Robert knew well. Robert’s parents, John and Sonia Sorel, were both actors. Jamie’s folks, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, were also well known in the entertainment industry.

From the first time they met, it appears Jamie and Robert had a fondness for one another. On Instagram, Jamie recalls him kissing her live on television. “We became a little family,” she added when she and Robert began dating. Robert had a daughter named Ever who was three at that time.

Even though things didn’t work out between them, Jamie says they remained friends. In fact, he went on to feature in the 1980s film The Long Riders alongside Jamie’s husband Christopher Guest.

Following his breakout role in John Wayne’s The Cowboys in 1972, Robert appeared in Mean Streets, Coming Home and Escape From L.A, among others. This century, he was perhaps best known for portraying Hilary Duff’s onscreen father in the TV series Lizzie McGuire.

Robert’s death has been deemed a suicide at the age of 71. His brother Keith confirmed the sad news. Further, Robert leaves behind three kids.
