Images of Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping Suspect Are Fueling Speculation — Sheriff

The latest update on Nancy Guthrie’s case has been related to the kidnapping suspect’s images. Earlier, the Pima County police released footage showing a masked man captured on a doorbell camera. Although he was reportedly treated as a suspect in the ongoing investigation, Sheriff Chris Nanos recently claimed that there was “no evidence.” Allegedly, they couldn’t prove if the accused visited the house before the 84-year-old was kidnapped from her Arizona home.

Kidnapping suspect’s photos obtained from the footage of Nancy Guthrie’s case have reportedly fueled speculations. Earlier, media outlets claimed that the masked man from the footage, captured on the doorbell camera, might have visited the victim a day before she was allegedly kidnapped on February 1. Responding to this, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos recently told PEOPLE, “There is no evidence to support that.”

He mentioned that the claims seemed to be “speculative” and “part of an ongoing investigation.” On February 23, the sheriff’s department released a statement about the images of the kidnapping suspect. They stated that the pictures featured a masked man in “different stages of attire, including with and without a backpack.”

Clarifying about the ongoing claims, it read, “There is no date or time stamp associated with these images. Therefore, any suggestion that the photographs were taken on different days is purely speculative.” Furthermore, the statement mentioned that Nancy Guthrie’s case would remain an “active and ongoing criminal investigation.” In conclusion, it stated that “speculation” could only delay the “investigative process.”

For those unversed, the mother of broadcast journalist Savannah Guthrie went missing on February 1 from her Arizona home. She was reportedly last seen on January 31. As the investigation began, the FBI released footage and images of an armed man with a black mask. Meanwhile, her family has been requesting through social media and other mediums to share information if anyone has.
