Sarah Ferguson reportedly had big Hollywood plans for herself before the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. According to an insider, the former Duchess of Sussex recently tried to pitch her 2021 romance novel as a TV or film project … but that plan has now been scuppered.
Sarah Ferguson wanted her novel adapted for the screen

“She was asking for some of us to push for Heart For A Compass to be presented to networks and streamers,” a source told Page Six Hollywood. According to the insider, Sarah fancied her novel as the next Bridgerton or The Crown.
“She’d had it rewritten and repitched, and was asking for any connections to take on the project,” the source added. For those who haven’t read it, Heart For A Compass tells the story of Lady Margaret Montagu Douglas Scott, who flees an arranged marriage.
Despite Sarah’s hopes and dreams for her novel, the insider said, “Everyone was very cautious.” As a result, the insider said the former duchess was rejected by NBC, HBO, and Netflix.
But apparently, this isn’t the first time that Sarah has tried to crack into Hollywood. The insider suggested she previously pitched the project in 2023, but was trying again for a “last Hail Mary.”
Per the insider, Sarah has been trying to repair her reputation amongst her pals following the Epstein files. The former duchess (and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor) feature frequently in the files, although this is not an indication of wrongdoing.
“Fergie wanted people who have worked with her, or social friends, to go in to bat for her,” they suggested.
“She wanted some of us to actually vouch for her with businesses,” the insider went on. “To not only assure them she was being misrepresented … but [that she] herself was some kind of casualty of wrongdoing.”
