Elsie Hewitt Gets Real About Why She Isn’t Breastfeeding Baby Daughter

Elsie Hewitt recently opened up about why she decided not to breastfeed her baby. On December 12, the actress and her partner, Pete Davidson, welcomed their first child. They named their baby girl Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson. While the little one brought happiness to the new mom, the latter also went through a difficult pregnancy. She had to make a few hard decisions, but kept her baby’s wellness in mind. One of the major ones included her not breastfeeding her daughter.

Elsie Hewitt isn’t sorry about not breastfeeding her baby and Pete Davidson wholly supports her

Elsie Hewitt recently revealed the reason why she didn’t breastfeed her and Pete Davidson’s baby. She wrote a piece for Elle about her pregnancy and the challenges that came with it. In it, the 29-year-old widely explained her decision not to breastfeed her child.

“When it came time to decide how I would feed my baby, I weighed my mental health, my recovery, and the kind of mother I want to be,” she wrote. Hewitt further stated that she went through an “inherent guilt” for not choosing the natural biological process.

However, she reminded herself every now and then that “being mentally and emotionally okay is not separate from being a good mother.” Furthermore, Hewitt shed light on her postpartum struggles.

While she had made her decision to go with formula, it turned out her post-pregnancy body struggled to “express even a drop” of milk. The new mom was, in turn, “overwhelmed” with her situation.

In her article, she mentioned being lucky to have a supportive partner and family. Referring to Davidson, Hewitt wrote, “I feel fortunate not to have felt pressure to breastfeed from the people in my life. My partner didn’t push me in either direction.” She also acknowledged her mother’s opinion on this, saying that the latter made it clear that the “decision was entirely mine.”
