Macaulay Culkin & Brenda Song’s Movie Time With Kids Comes With a Warning

“Home Alone” is even just a forgotten childhood movie. Instead, it’s a beautiful gem that has turned into pure holiday nostalgia. However, it seems like for Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song, it’s more than that.

In fact, the “Suite Life of Zack & Cody” actor recently revealed that, in addition to being a thoroughly entertaining watch, it’s also served as a major parenting lesson for her and Culkin’s children, Dakota, 4, and Carson, 3.

Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song use ‘Home Alone’ to teach kids about stranger danger

It seems like Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song are extremely creative parents. They have given a major upgrade to the viewing experience of the 1990 classic by using it to talk to their children about stranger danger, while getting brutally real about safety concerns and awareness. She opened up about how they take every opportunity to make sure she teaches them something about safety.

Discussing this, Song recently told Erin Lim Rhodes, E! News’ “The Rundown” host, that her fiancé, Macaulay Culkin, recently showed the movie to their kids. She said, “They love all the hijinks and the traps and stuff. They have no real concept of the danger. My oldest gets it more than my younger son.” She also explained how she teaches them, saying, “I was like. ‘They’re a stranger if you don’t know their name.”

The “Running Point” actor further added, “I explained, ‘It doesn’t matter if they’re someone’s parents. If you don’t know their name, or you’ve never seen them before at our house, they are a stranger.’” She has also been seizing every opportunity to educate them. Talking about this, she expressed, “Everywhere we go, I’m like, ‘How do we get home?’ Every building we go in, like, ‘How did we get here? How do we get out?’ I was teaching them exit signs.”
