Nancy Guthrie Update Today (Day 26): FBI Reducing Tucson Personnel

There will be fewer people taking part in the Nancy Guthrie search going forward at least in Tucson. The mother of Today Show co-host Savannah Guthrie has been missing for nearly a month, with the FBI chasing down several leads that may be connected to her alleged kidnapping.

As the search continues, the FBI says it is reducing the number of people in Tucson. Many of those people will be relocating to Phoenix, which is home to the FBI’s largest office in Arizona.

Investigators evidently believe that for many, their time would be best served in Arizona’s capital. Sources briefed on the investigation have told ABC News that those working in the FBI will remain in Nancy’s hometown of Tucson, while the others head to Phoenix. The shift according to them, is by no means them giving up on tracking down the 84-year-old.

There is reportedly no more work to be done for now on Nancy’s home. Her property has been searched thoroughly, with police obtaining security video of the alleged kidnapper on Nancy’s doorbell camera. That has led to a suspect description. Investigators are focusing their attention on the analytical side of this case.

Among the things they are looking into are receipts at Walmart, where the alleged kidnapper may have purchased many of their clothes. They’re also untangling the DNA from Nancy’s home and thousands of tips.

For her part, Savannah has offered a $1 million reward for anyone who comes forward with information that helps find the kidnapper and/or leads to an arrest. A top extortion expert called it a savvy move by the TV personality to delay that reward offer.

The blood of Nancy has previously been found at her home. Meanwhile, several ransom notes have been sent to news outlets asking for money in exchange for Nancy’s release. Nancy was last seen having dinner with her daughter Annie on January 31st.
