Why Cardi B Allegedly Almost Walked Out of SNL

Cardi B’s appearance on Saturday Night Live (SNL) is something people are talking about for better or worse. The I Like It singer served as a musical guest during Alexander Skarsgard’s hosting.

Cardi was there to celebrate what was the sketch comedy program’s 1,000th episode. The show is famed for parodying many current events and celebrities. When Cardi got word of one sketch, however, she was none too pleased. She reportedly lost it on set and was on the verge of walking away.

For years, Cardi and Nicki Minaj have had a longstanding feud, from social media exchanges to even physical altercations. Nicki is a huge advocate for President Donald Trump often singing his praises publicly. So, when Cardi heard through the grapevine that a Nicki joke was coming on Weekend Update, Cardi apparently did not take it well.

Sources tell TMZ that although the joke was solely around Nicki and her obsession with the Make America Great Again (MAGA) motto, Cardi wasn’t a fan. Reports suggest that when she heard the comedians rehearsing the bit, Cardi threw her phone at a TV monitor backstage. After that, she allegedly went into a producer’s office and punched a screen until it broke.

It reportedly made everyone on set extremely uncomfortable at the time. Cardi, meanwhile, apparently threatened to leave the show.

In addition to her feud with Nicki, Cardi is often seen as very blunt. At one of her concerts this month, she called out ICE, jokingly threatening to jump any agents that may be in attendance. The Immigration agency has been at the centre of controversy following multiple shooting deaths in Minneapolis this year. Many protests have taken place because of their actions.

Meanwhile, the joke was apparently scrapped by SNL, and Cardi was satisfied enough to go on stage and perform.
