Jimmy Kimmel Slams Ted Cruz for Praising Donald Trump

Donald Trump’s latest State of the Union address may have garnered praise from a number of his backers, including Senator Ted Cruz, but Jimmy Kimmel doesn’t seem to buy the act. The late-night talk show host recently highlighted how Trump supporters blindly champion every single one of the president’s moves, taking a dedicated shot at the Texan politician.

Jimmy Kimmel comments on Ted Cruz’s praise for Donald Trump

In the latest episode of the veteran comedian’s talk show that aired after the US President’s SOTU speech, he called out Ted Cruz and other advocates of the businessman-turned-politician for their over-the-top glorification of his address.

“This is the big difference between Trump supporters and everybody on the other side,” the titular host said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. “The worse Trump is, the harder MAGA-land works to tickle his little pumpkinets.”

The 58-year-old TV personality then played a video containing brief snippets of several high-profile personalities gushing over Donald Trump’s SOTU address. The clip included Senator Katie Britt describing the oration as “masterful” and Representative Jim Jordan deeming it to be “by far the best one.” Speaker Mike Johnson was also recorded praising it by claiming, “I think it was the best State of the Union speech that I’ve seen.”

Meanwhile, Senator Ted Cruz also commended the much-discussed address by stating that it was a “majestic speech,” which ended up drawing a hearty laugh from Jimmy Kimmel.

“He still doesn’t like you, Ted. Forget about it. He’s never gonna like you. No one does,” Kimmel quipped as he mocked Cruz’s comments regarding the speech. Reiterating the Senator’s “majestic” compliment in a sarcastic manner, he continued, “I wonder if when Ted Cruz goes home at night, he looks in the mirror and throws up.”

Notably, Donald Trump has targeted Ted Cruz multiple times in the past. The Republican infamously mocked the latter’s wife with a meme during his 2016 presidential campaign. He also linked the Texan’s father to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. However, Cruz has since become a known supporter of the two-time President.
